It's amazing - not to mention downright scary - how easily you can spend 250.000 euros when it comes to buying a house. You just put your signature on a piece of paper and - voila - a quarter of a million euros just passed through your fingers. And this happens without you actually seeing the money in question. It's not like the notary presents you with a briefcase filled with stacks of bills or a big burlap sack with a dollar sign on it (though that would be cool). No, it's just a piece of paper. And then you suddenly own a house. You guessed it. Yesterday morning, Marije and I became the official proprietors of a lovely house near the beautiful city centre of Delft. The next couple of weeks will be spent on a thorough home makeover, meaning we'll let a contractor do all the hard work while I run around madly through the house, irritating people by shouting stuff through a megaphone a la Ty Pennington. It's Extreme Home Makeover: Steven's Edition.
Seriously though, I fear some exhausting times lie ahead. Which means I probably won't be able to update this blog until about december, when everything should be finished (and I'll also have the whole communication / electrical-department up and running). Not that I've been such an ardent blogger lately (I see I posted my last entry more than a month ago), but... well, just so you know. Thanks for reading and see you soon!
